We organized cultural paths through Turin and Piedmont in general with the aim of discovering the historical, cultural and scenic heritage and adressed to strangers citizens and refugees/asylum seekers hosted in SPRAR and CAS welcome centers of the province of Turin; those courses has been held by refugees who already are Italian citizens and/or medium period residents or by second generations people, native of third countries.
We believe that being strangers forever it’s not possible, and that learning to understand the society wich is welcoming you is essential to lern how to become more conscious citizens: we aim to become the protagonists and active actors of the futur, of our society and of our city.
Starting from the autumn 2018 and until september 2019, more than 50 young people have been involved, including refugeees and second generation people native of 23 different countries. The initiative, moreover, made ten young mediators protagonists as “peer leader”. They helped the linguistc and cultural comprehension of visited places.
“Common places” (Luoghi Comuni) is a project ideated by the association “Bridge Generation” (GenerAzione Ponte) who received in 2019 the UNHCR-INTERSOS support, through the capacity-building programme “PartecipAzione – Azioni per la Protezione e la Partecipazione dei Rifugiati” (Participation- Action for the Protection and the Participation of Refugees).
